Microsoft announce on their blog that Windows 10 support has ended
Windows 10 officially reached its end of life (EOL) on October 14, 2025. This means that Microsoft no longer provides free security updates, technical support, or feature updates to Windows 10. Without these, devices are left vulnerable to new threats. In order to keep your device secure, users should upgrade to Windows 11 (if eligible, not all devices can be upgraded), purchase a new Windows 11 PC, or enrol in the paid Extended Security Updates (ESU) program for critical security fixes only, as devices continue to function but become less secure over time.
Microsoft have stated that Windows 10 has reached the end of support on October 14, 2025. At this point technical assistance, feature updates and security updates is no longer provided. If you have devices running Windows 10, (they) recommend upgrading them to Windows 11. Windows 11 is a more modern, secure, and highly efficient computing experience. If devices do not meet the technical requirements to run on Windows 11, (they) recommend that you enrol in the Windows 10 Consumer Extended Security Updates (ESU) program or replace the device with one that supports Windows 11.
What you can do to stay supported on a Windows operating system:
Microsoft have provided a few options on how to stay supported within the Windows operating system environment.
Upgrade from Windows 10 and install Windows 11 on your current device:
If your current device meets the minimum system requirements for Windows 11, and is eligible to upgrade directly to Windows 11, you might have already received a notification about upgrading. To check if your PC is eligible for the free upgrade go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and select Check for updates.
Purchase a new device with Windows 11, not Windows 10:
If your device is not eligible, you might want to start by exploring the latest Windows 11 devices.
Use the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program:
If you need more time before moving to a new Windows 11 device, there is another option. Should your current device not be eligible to upgrade, the consumer Extended Security Updates (ESU) program can protect your Windows 10 device for up to a year after October 14, 2025.
