What is an app?

An app, or application software, is a computer program which is used on smartphones, tablets and now even laptops.

There is a vast range of apps available which are both free and paid for. Apps are available for download from a number of sites, with some of the key platforms being the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Mobile apps originally offered only basic functionality such as email, calendar and weather. However, with such a huge demand for more and more apps, the expansion in other areas has really taken off, such as in games, banking, medical, magazines and now even business, check out the best apps for BYOD users.
